EXCUSE ME

Creative Quilting techniques used   hand quilting (p.70); using floss to create flowers (p.107); painting cotton fabric and cheese cloth with textile paints (p.132)

This was the year that I decided to market myself. I entered into more shows, mailed postcards to galleries and interior designers, and pushed myself to get my name and work out to the public. "Excuse Me"  depicts the assertiveness of a dandelion in a tulip garden, a quality that I needed to work on for my marketing goals.

The cotton fabric and cheese cloth were hand painted using textile paints in a water color fasion. The tulips were drawn from a digital photo I took from my garden using water color pencils. Then they were hand appliqued and machine stitched for detail. The dandelion was created using embroidery floss, a technique seen in Creative Quilting.   I thought I'd give hand quilting with embroidery floss a try for a bold textural effect.

Within this quilt, the combination of the 3 techniques I chose created a landscape that best illustrates the emergence of my marketing efforts.
